Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Trojans Top Lions, 2-1

ANDERSON, SC - After their originally scheduled home game was moved to away due to the excessive rain we've received, the women's soccer team traveled to Anderson University on Tuesday evening. The Trojans defeated the Lions, 2-1.

Anderson got off to a hot start, scoring the first goal just 42 seconds into the game. Then, in the 23rd minute, a foul by the Lions in the box resulted in a penalty kick for the Trojans, which they took advantage of by scoring their second goal to increase their lead, 2-0.

The Trojans started the second half taking five consecutive shots. However, all of them either missed the mark or were saved by Lions' goalkeeper Julia Styrmisdottir. Then, in the 58th minute, senior Brianna Bishop found the net for the Lions during a one on one situation with Anderson's keeper, thanks to a pass from sophomore Zoe Logue. Neither team was able to score again as Anderson held on to their lead to win by a goal, 2-1.

Emmanuel finished with 5 shots, 3 of them on goal. Anderson took 18, 8 of them on goal.

Next up, women's soccer will head to North Carolina to take on Chowan University on Saturday, September 25 at 11:00 AM.
