HUNTSVILLE, AL - Women's volleyball continued tournament play at the UAH Invitational with their second match of the day, facing Trevecca Nazarene. The Lions fell to the Trojans in three sets, moving their record to 0-2.
The first set began with the Trojans taking the early momentum as they captured the lead, 5-1. The Lions fought back as they attempted to stay in the set, eventually pulling within two points, 12-10. However, a 13-4 run for the Trojans gave them the set, 25-14.
Trevecca carried their momentum into the second set as they took the lead early on, 10-4. A slew of momentum shifts proceeded to occur. The Lions would get close to tying the set, but the Trojans would respond by once again increasing their lead. With Trevecca eventually leading 23-16, the Lions went on a three point rally. But it wasn't enough as the Trojans won the set, 25-19.
The Trojans led the third set 4-2 early on, but 4 consecutive points for the Lions gave them the advantage, 6-4. The set proceeded to go back and forth until the score was tied at 20. However, three kills from the Trojans got them to 23. A kill from the Lions got them to 21, but two more kills from Trevecca gave them the set, 25-22, and the match, 3-0.
The Lions were led by senior
Taylor Roberts, who recorded 9 kills in 18 attempts with an error-free hitting percentage of .500. Additionally, Roberts had 3 blocks and an ace. Senior
Aleksandra Hamuda and sophomore
Emily Hanson followed with 6 kills each. Hamuda finished with a solo block while Hanson recorded 2 block assists.
Next up, women's volleyball will wrap up the UAH Invitational with a match against Ouachita Baptist at 12:00 PM (EST) on Saturday.
