Women's Soccer dominates first round of Conference Carolinas Championship

 

Franklin Springs, GA --- #6 Emmanuel College Women's Soccer hosted #7 Barton College for the first round of the Conference Carolinas Championship. 

Emmanuel came out looking punch their ticket to the second round of the Conference Carolinas Championship. Early in the first half, the Lions showed up and showed out. At just 10 minutes and 53 seconds into the first half, Allie Windom would score the first goal unassisted putting the Lions up 1-0. Just 3 minutes later at 13 minutes and 6 seconds, Zoe Logue would pass and connect with Viki Lederer who would score to put the Lions up 2-0 early. Lion's goalie, Hannah Thompson had an incredible save in the first half to keep the Bulldogs from scoring. Both Barton and Emmanuel would put up 4 shots a piece in the first half. The Lions would take it to the half up 2-0.

The Lions came out looking to score and take the lead in the second half of play. Both teams would come out very quiet in the second half. It would be until under 25 minutes in the second half that either team would start putting up shots. Once again, Lion's goalie, Hannah Thompson, would have 3 more incredible saves to silence the Bulldogs. After 90 minutes of play, the Lions would secure the victory 2-0, knocking the Bulldogs out of the tournament. 

The Lions will head to Pembroke, NC to face off against #3 seed UNC Pembroke on Saturday, October 29. The match is set to begin at 7:00pm.
