Franklin Springs, GA - Men's Basketball hosted Georgia Southwestern in a non-conference matchup to open the 2022-2023 season.
Emmanuel Men's Basketball opened the season against GSW coming off of a winning record (19-9) for the 2021-2022 season. The Lions head into this season ranked #2 in the preseason polls for Conference Carolinas. The Lions returned key players, KJ Jones and Chris Dees. They also brought in some key players such as
Trell Washington and Jeremiah Francis. KJ Jones, Travarus Webb, Jeremiah Francis,
Trell Washington and
Jasper Gibson would be the starting five to kick off this season. In the first half of play, Emmanuel scored 31 points, shooting 45.83% from the field and 87.5% from the line. The Lions scored 44 points in the second half of play going 40% from the field and 83.33% from the line. KJ Jones would lead the Lions in points, scoring a total of 30 throughout the game which would far surpass GSW's leading scorer by 13 points. Next for the Lions would be Travarus Webb who scored 15 points overall. KJ Jones led the Lions in the 3 point game with a total of 3 followed by
Jasper Gibson who had 2. The Lions would secure the victory 75-73.
The Lions will host Young Harris College on Saturday, Nobember 12th. The game is set to begin at 4:00pm/
