Men's Basketball Splits Home Tournament 1-1 after loss to Young Harris

Franklin Springs, GA - Men's Basketball hosted Young Harris College in their final day of their home opener weekend tournament.

Emmanuel came to this game hot off of a win against Georgia Southwestern Friday night. Young Harris also was coming into this game hot off a win against Chowan. The Lions got off to a very slow first half only shooting 29.03% from the field going 9 for 31, 36.36% from three point range going 4 for 11 and 83.33% in free throws going 5 for 6. The Mountain Lions would go 13 for 28 from the field, 4 for 13 from the three point range and 3 for 3 from the free throw line. Emmanuel went into the first half down 27-33.

The Lions came out looking to turn the score around in the second half of play. Emmanuel improved shooting 53.85% from the field going 14 for 26, 50% from three point range going 4 for 8 and 81.82% from the free throw line going 9 for 11. Emmanuel out played the Mountain Lions in the second half as they went 13 for 31 from the field, 1 for 12 from three point range and 9 for 13 from the free throw line. Kelvin Jones once again led the Lions with 23 points overall. Tavarus Webb and Jeremiah Francis would both score 13 points a piece. The Mountain Lions would draw a foul in the last 3 seconds of play. The first shot by Chavis, Young Harris, would be missed but the second shot would sink. The Lions made it down the court in the last seconds remaining but were unable to put up points on the crucial play. The Mountain Lions would take the victory over the Emmanuel Lions, 69-68.

Emmanuel will travel to Clayton State on Saturday, November 19th to compete in the Clayton State Tournament. The first game against Georgia College is set to begin at 1:00pm.
