Newberry, SC - Emmanuel Women's Basketball team traveled to face off against Newberry College on November 29, 2022.
Emmanuel comes into 1-2 overall after securing a conference win over Lees-McRae College last Tuesday. Newberry College comes into this game with a record of 3-3 after a loss to Belmont Abbey College. Newberry College took the first quarter of play by storm as they went 57.14% from the field, 33.33% from the three and 100%Â from the free throw line. The Lions went 18.18% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. The Lions would matchup well against the wolves for the second quarter of play. The Lions would go 38.46% from the field, 100% from beyond the three and 50% from the free throw line. The Wolves would go 53.85% from the field, 25% from beyond the three and 50% from the free throw line. The leading scorers for Emmanuel during the first half of play would be: Jazmine Allen (7pts),

Jeanetta Elder (4pts.) The Wolves would head into the half up 35-24.
Emmanuel would dominate the third and the fourth quarter of play in hopes to take the lead and secure the victory over the wolves. The lady lions would get on a role with just 5 mintues left in the third quarter of play putting up 10 points. They had put up on 2 points prior to their hot hand.
Sydney Wyatt and
Macy Passmore were both hot with points and 3 pointers during the game. At the end of the third quarter of play, the Wolves would still have the slight advantage, 46-40. The fourth quarter would be the deciding factor for this game as neither team had been able to pull ahead. The Lions would go on the board first early in the fourth quarter as Wyatt would sink a one of two free throws after a foul from the Wolves, Holly Davies. With just two minutes left in the game, the Lions would bring the game to just a two point deficit after a good jumper by
Jeanetta Elder. Ultimately, they could not hold off the Wolves as they would be forced to foul in order to stop the clock. The Wolves would secure the victory after 4 quarters, 52-47.
The Lions will travel to UNC Pembroke to face off against the Braves in a Conference Carolinas matchup on December 3rd. The game is set to begin at 2:00pm.
