Women's Basketball upsets King University 83-51

Franklin Springs, GA - The Lady Lions hosted King University this weekend for a Conference Carolinas matchup with the Tornado. 

Results:
- Emmanuel 83, King 51
-  Emmanuel 3-4, 3-1 Conference Carolinas;  King 2-8, 2-1 Conference Carolinas

Summary:
First Period
- Emmanuel jumps to an early 8 point lead three minutes into the first 10 minutes of play
- The Tornado made an attempt to close the gap coming within 5 points with just 6 minutes left to play
- The Lady Lion's Syndey Wyatt and Jeanetta Elder went on a hot streak to increase Emmanuel's score to 20-7 with less than three minutes to play
- Under a minute to play, Abby Crawford, drains a 3 to give Emmanuel a 15 point advantage (27-12), to end the first period.

Second Period

- Macy Passmore hits a jumper 58 seconds into the second period increasing the lead to a 17 point lead and put the Lions on the board first
- The Lions then would score the next six points and held the Tornado scoreless until 3:57 left to play
- Abby Crawford would have a beautiful layup in the paint after a fast break from which she stole the ball from the Tornado at 3:09
- Jeanetta Elder would score 4 more points for the Lions within a minute and a half
- Abby Crawford would hit a buzzer beater 3 assisted by Addie Penick to send the Lions into the half up 47-20

Third Period

- The Tornado would open scoring the first six points
- Emmanuel would close the quarter on a 11-6 run
- Jazmine Allen, Sydney Wyatt, Jeanetta Elder and Abby Crawford would run this period of play

Fourth Period

- The Lions would slowly continue to stretch their lead, eventually going up 75-45 with 3:17 left to play
- Tornado would be unable to close deficit as the Lions would continue to drain buckets 
- The Tornado were unable to close the defecit, falling 83-51.

Players of the game

Jeanetta Elder led all scorers, scoring 19 points and pulling nine rebounds
Abby Crawford and Sydney Wyatt both had 15 points

The Lions will travel to the University of Mount Olive on December 14th. The game is set to begin at 5:00pm.
