Lions Defeat Tigers, 6-3

LIVINGSTON, AL - The Emmanuel College Men's Baseball team traveled to Livingston, AL, to compete against the University of West Alabama. After falling down 3-1 at the end of the 5th inning, the Lions worked hard to keep UWA scoreless while scoring 5 runs in the last 4 innings as they went on to win, 6-3. The victory moves Emmanuel to 3-4 on the year.
 
In the bottom of the 1st, J. Bower singled, bringing home G. Rogers for a 1-0 UWA lead. 
In the top of the 2nd, the Lions tied the game, aided by an error by UWA leading to a run scored by Judd Roberts. The game remained 1-1 until the 5th inning. 
In the bottom of the 5th, G. Rogers of UWA singled, bringing J. Nemith home for a 2-1 lead. Shortly after, G. Rogers scored on a balk by Emmanuel College, giving UWA a 3-1 lead. 
In the top of the 6th, Jonathan Manibusan doubled, bringing home Brody Campbell, cutting the deficit to 1 run. 
After 3 straight scoreless innings, Cody Minnis reached 2nd on an error in the top of the 9th, bringing Baez home to tie the game 3-3. Luke Patty would single, bringing Minnis home for a 4-3 lead. Dustin Frost advanced to second by an error, allowing Patty to reach home for a 5-3 lead. Frost stole third and – aided by an error by UWA – scored home, leading to the 6-3 run win.
 
Emmanuel College had a strong night from the mound, especially at the end of the game, holding the Tigers scoreless in the last 4 innings. Jake Denham started the game and pitched 6 innings, allowing 10 hits and 3 runs. Hunter Parks pitched one inning, shutting out UWA during his time on the mound. Clifford Brown pitched 1 inning, allowing 1 hit and 0 runs. Tyler Mayfield closed for the Lions, holding off UWA from scoring in the 9th while allowing 2 hits. 
 
Emmanuel College will end their series with the University of West Alabama tomorrow as the compete in Livingston, AL, at 12:00 PM.
