9 Seniors Honored as Lions Beat Tornado

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel College Men's Basketball team honored their seniors tonight as they competed against King University. The Lions had an impressive senior night, defeating the Tornado 91-65.  The win moves Emmanuel to 16-6 overall and 15-3 in league play where they remain in second place.
 
The following seniors were honored at the start of the game for their outstanding contributions to the Emmanuel College Men's Basketball Program: 
 
Isaiah Foster (2), a guard from Summerville, Georgia. 
Brandon Simpson (4), a guard from Germantown, Maryland. 
Kyler Ingram (5), a forward from Atlanta, Georgia. 
Michael Wright, a guard from Summerville, South Carolina. 
Jackson Bailey (21), a forward from Colbert, Georgia. 
Cody Body, a guard from Athens, Georgia. 
Ethan Palmer (32), a guard from Woodstock, Georgia. 
DeQuon Pope (12), a forward from Kennesaw, Georgia. 
Tyonn Stuckey (55), a guard from Columbia, South Carolina. 
Dylan "Diego" Tabor, the team manager from Warner Robbins, Georgia. 
 
The Lions started the first half strong, leading the Tornado by 13 with 5:24 remaining in the first half (33-20). However, the Tornado went on an 11-6 run to cut the lead to 8 at halftime (39-31). At the beginning of the half, Emmanuel began a strong run which would not end until the end of the game. They outscored King 29-20 to keep a 17 point lead with 10 minutes remaining in the game. They would continue to extend their lead, outscoring King 52-34 in the second half. Emmanuel finished the game leading by 26 for a final score of 91-65. 
 
The team had an impressive performance all around. They shot 50% from the floor (31-62) and 50.0% (17-34) from behind the 3-point line. Emmanuel scored 26 points in the paint. The bench was an important factor in tonight's game, accounting for 35 points. 
 
Many seniors put up impressive performances tonight. Isaiah Foster and Michael Wright led the team in scoring with 15 points. Wright recorded 5 rebounds and 1 assist, while Foster recorded 2 rebounds. Tyonn Stuckey scored 10 points with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Brandon Simpson scored 12 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Jackson Bailey scored 4 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. DeQuon Pope scored 2 points and recorded 3 rebounds. Ethan Palmer scored 2 points with 1 rebound. Cody Body recorded 1 rebound. 
 
KJ Jones II scored 14 points with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Jasper Gibson scored 9 points off the bench. 
 
Emmanuel College will play their final home game of the regular season February 14th (Mon) as they compete against conference opponent Southern Wesleyan University at 6:00 PM.
