Lions Honor Smith and Sengkhammee in Senior Day Win Over Tornado

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball team honored their seniors tonight as they competed in the last home game of the season against King University. The Lions gave their seniors a successful send-off at home, defeating the Tornado 82-69. The win moves Emmanuel's record to 8-13 (8-10 CC).
 
The following seniors were honored at the start of the game for their outstanding contributions to the Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Program: 
 
Allison Smith (12), a guard/forward from Banks County, Georgia. 
Lexie Sengkhammee (20), a point guard from Flowery Branch, Georgia. 
 
The two teams remained close in the 1st quarter, but Emmanuel kept a slight edge, outscoring the Tornado 22-14 in the first 10 minutes of regulation. Emmanuel continued to dominate in the 2nd quarter, leading by 11 with 2:10 remaining in the half (32-21). However, King rallied to end the quarter on a 11-0 run. Aided by a last-second 3 point shot, King tied the game 32-32 at the half. The two teams exchanged leads for the majority of the 3rd quarter, with Emmanuel holding a 1 point lead with 3:16 remaining in the period. Emmanuel would finish the quarter on a 8-4 run, creating a 5 point lead going into the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter, Emmanuel would hold onto their lead, outscoring the Tornado 30-22. The Lions would take the game 82-69. 
 
The Lions had an impressive team performance from the floor. They shot an impressive 50.8% (31-61) from the floor. Most of their points came from under the basket, scoring 52 points in the paint. They shot 33.3% (3-9) from behind the three point line. They went nearly perfect from the free-throw line, shooting 85.0% (17-20). 
 
The seniors had an impressive individual performance. Allison Smith scored 10 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Lexi Sengkhammee scored 3 points with 4 rebounds and 7 assists. 
 
Sydney Wyatt led the Lions in scoring with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Jeanetta Elder scored 21 points with 6 rebounds. Jazmin Allen recorded an impressive double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Allen also recorded 6 assists. 
 
The Lions will continue their season as they travel to King University on February 14th to face off at 5:00 PM.
