Lions Fall to Trojans in Low-Scoring Affair

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel College baseball team hosted Anderson University on Tuesday. The Lions lost to the Trojans, 1-2, moving Emmanuel's record to 5-5 overall.

Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound on Tuesday, but Anderson University was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their victory over Emmanuel. Ryan Smith started the game for Emmanuel and recorded 18 outs.

Emmanuel got on the board in the first inning when Johnathan Manibusan doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Anderson University knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning. Jackson Van Ness grounded out, scoring one run.

Anderson University pulled away for good with one run in the fifth inning. In the fifth Kyle Andress singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Trey Princiotto was the winning pitcher for Anderson University. The righty went three innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out six. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Jackson Herring, Landon Henley, Joseph Cottone, and Corey Loggins all securing outs and ultimately the victory. Herring recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for Anderson University.
Smith took the loss for Emmanuel. The righty surrendered two runs on four hits over six innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Luke Patty, Branan McGee, Manibusan, and Guy Anderberg each collected one hit to lead Emmanuel.
James Hanvey went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Anderson University (AU) in hits.

Next up, baseball will host Newberry College on Wednesday, February 16. at 2:30pm.
