FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The men's basketball team hosted the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Thursday night. The Lions recorded an emphatic victory, defeating the Flying Fleet 80-55. The win moves Emmanuel to 13-6 overall and 12-3 in league play.
The Lions scored the first four points of the night, but the Fleet quickly tied it up at eight. Then, both teams went through a scoring drought, neither able to break from the lock. However, soon it was Emmanuel that took control, suddenly finding a rhythm and charging to an unanswered 16 point run. By the end of 20 minutes it was a 22 point advantage for the Lions, 42-20.
Emmanuel continued to roll in the second half, playing tough defense and enjoying a hot stretch from three point land that extended their lead past 30. By the end of the night it was a 25 point advantage from the Lions as they won 80-55.
Sophomore KJ Jones II recorded his second straight double-double, putting up 19 points and coming down with a dozen rebounds while dishing out 5 assists. Sophomore Jayvion Rucker followed with 13 points and 2 boards. Freshman Chris Dees continued his excellent three point shooting, going 3 for 3 from downtown.
