Lions Fall to Bears in Home Opener

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Baseball team played their home opener on Saturday afternoon against the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears. The Lions fell to the Bears, 0-4, moving Emmanuel's record to 1-1.
 
Andrew Patrick was credited with the victory for Lenoir-Rhyne. The pitcher went six innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and striking out eight. Spencer Floyd, Jackson Reid, and Michael Allen all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
 
Ryan Smith started on the mound for Emmanuel. Smith went five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out two and walking one.
 
Emmanuel racked up six hits on the day. Cody Minnis and Luke Patty each collected two hits to lead Emmanuel.
 
Lenoir-Rhyne totaled 11 hits. Cole Laskowski, Drew Yniesta, and Scott Meitzler all had multiple hits for Lenoir-Rhyne.
 
Next up, Emmanuel Baseball will continue their series with Lenoir-Rhyne with a double-header set to begin at 1:00pm on Sunday.
