Lions Fall in Extra Innings to #1 Wingate

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel baseball team concluded their weekend series with #1 Wingate on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs defeated the Lions in extra innings, 6-2, moving Emmanuel's record to 11-18. 
 
Wingate got things moving in the first inning, when Michael Dansky homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Emmanuel tied things up at two. Johnathan Manibusan singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
 
This would lead to extra innings, as neither team scored in the ninth. The game was still tied at two with Wingate batting in the top of the eleventh when an error scored two runs for the Bulldogs
 
Josh Dotson was credited with the victory for Wingate. The pitcher surrendered one run on four hits over five innings, striking out five. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Corey Avant, Mitch Farris, Chris Macca, and Austin Johnson all securing outs and ultimately the victory. Macca recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Wingate.
 
Trey Campbell took the loss for Emmanuel. The righty surrendered three runs on three hits over one inning, walking zero.
 
Colby Feilds started the game for Emmanuel. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out five and walking zero
 
Emmanuel launched one home run on the day. Brody Campbell went deep in the second inning.
 
Emmanuel racked up ten hits in the game. Guy Anderberg went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Emmanuel in hits.
 
Wingate totaled ten hits. 
 
Next up, Emmanuel baseball will resume league play as they host Francis Marion on Friday, March 25 at 5:00pm.
