Lions Run Away with Series Opener Against Patriots, 19-8

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel baseball team continued conference play on Friday as they played the first of their three-game series with Francis Marion. The Lions ran away with the high-scoring affair, defeating the Patriots 19-8. This moves their record to 12-18 (4-9 CC).
 
Emmanuel collected 21 hits and Francis Marion had 12 in the shootout.
 
Emmanuel got on the board in the first inning when Cody Minnis drove in a run.
 
Emmanuel scored nine runs in the second inning. Emmanuel's big inning was driven by singles by Guy Anderberg, Tyler Smith, and Brody Campbell, doubles by Chan Haulk and Luke Patty, and a triple by Johnathan Manibusan.
 
Jake Denham earned the win for Emmanuel. Denham allowed three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out two. Ryan Smith and Braden Henle entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
 
Halton Hardy took the loss for Francis Marion. Hardy allowed eight hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, walking zero.
 
Emmanuel totaled 21 hits. Campbell, Manibusan, Patty, Anderberg, Kyle Lacross, and Minnis all had multiple hits for Emmanuel. Manibusan and Campbell each collected four hits to lead the way.
 
The series will continue tomorrow (Saturday, March 26) will a doubleheader against the Patriots. First serve is slated for 1:00pm.
