Patriots Defeat Lions in High-Scoring Doubleheader

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel College baseball team (12-20, 4-11 CC) continued their series with Francis Marion on Saturday. The Patriots defeated the Lions in both games of the doubleheader.
 
Game one:
Emmanuel fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 15-3 loss to the Patriots in the opener. 
 
Francis Marion got things moving in the first inning, when Nobles homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
 
Francis Marion scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for the Patriots came thanks to doubles by Tuten and Will Hardee and a groundout by Tyler Reynolds.
 
Robbie Jordan led the Patriots to victory on the mound. The bulldog lasted five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out six. Reece Kleinhelter threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
 
Simon Boggie took the loss for Emmanuel. The pitcher allowed three hits and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.
 
Emmanuel scattered seven hits in the game. Brody Campbell and Luke Patty each racked up two hits to lead the way for Emmanuel. 
 
Francis Marion had 17 hits in the game. 
 
Game two:

Emmanuel fell behind early once again in the second matchup of the afternoon. Despite the 6-14 loss, Emmanuel did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Francis Marion had 20 hits on the way to victory.
 
In the first inning, Francis Marion got their offense started when Mattox singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Emmanuel scored three runs in the eighth inning. Branan McGee, Kyle Lacross, and Luke Patty each drove in runs during the inning.
 
Francis Marion scored four runs in the fifth inning. Will Hardee, Naphis Llanos, and Mattox each had RBIs in the frame.
 
Matt Dooley pitched the Patriots to victory. The pitcher surrendered three runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Daniel Twitty, Nick Palumbo, and Ben Thornton all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
 
Colby Feilds took the loss for Emmanuel. The righty lasted one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and two runs while walking one.
 
Emmanuel had 13 hits in the game. Patty, Yeshua Saint, and Judd Roberts all had multiple hits for Emmanuel. Patty went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the way.
 
Francis Marion tallied 20 hits on the day. Mattox, Hardee, Gonzalez, Lex Tuten, Bill Hanna, and Tanner Wakefield each collected multiple hits for Francis Marion.
 
Emmanuel baseball will take a short break before returning to action on Friday, April 1st at 5:00pm as they travel to North Carolina to take on Barton College.
