Nadler Nails Walk-off Homer in 2-0 Day Over Cougars

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel softball team hosted Columbus State University for a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Lions won both games over the Cougars in a thrilling afternoon showdown. This moves Emmanuel's record to 21-12 on the season.
 
Game one:
It came down to the wire in the opener, with the Lions taking victory on a dramatic walk-off home run from Chloe Nadler. The Lions trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Nadler homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs and securing the 4-3 victory.
 
In the second inning, the Lions got their offense started when Lexi Jordan singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
 
Columbus State evened things up at two in the top of the third inning when Paige Vincent homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
 
Madison Edwards led things off in the pitcher's circle for Lions. The righthander allowed six hits and three runs over all seven innings, striking out four.
 
Hannah Rose Corbin toed the rubber for Columbus State. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
 
The Lions launched one home run on the day, coming at the most critical moment when Nadler hit the game-winning dinger. 
 
Mackensie Hogan went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lions in hits.
 
The Cougars racked up six hits, while the Lions finished with seven.
 
 
Game two:
The Lions nabbed the lead late in another 4-3 victory to finish the day. The game was tied at two with the Lions batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kasey Westmoreland singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lions tied things up at two. Chloe Nadler singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Kaitlyn Pickens earned the victory on the rubber for Emmanuel. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over three and a third innings, striking out four.
 
Haylee Folds started the game for Columbus State. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out two.
The Lions racked up ten hits on the game. Nadler went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Emmanuel in hits. The Lions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Kya Santiago had the most chances in the field with five.
 
Next up, Emmanuel Softball will hit the road for a weekend of Conference Carolinas matchups. First, they take on UNC Pembroke at 2:00pm on Friday before facing Mount Olive at noon on Saturday. Be sure to tune in to both doubleheaders on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network!
