BELMONT, NC - The Emmanuel baseball team resumed conference play against Belmont Abbey on Friday. The Crusaders defeated the Lions, 8-9, moving Emmanuel's record to 8-11 on the season.
The Crusaders hit home runs in the first and fourth innings, the second of which being a grand slam that put the game out of Emmanuel's reach. The Lions recorded 6 hits on the day, but were unable to produce any runs.
Jake Denham started the game on the mound for the Lions, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits with one walk and one strike out. Kedric Zimmer came in for relief in the sixth inning, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while sitting down 4 and walking 1.
Next up, baseball will play a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey on Saturday, March 5 with first pitch set for 1:00pm.
