Lions Sweep Series with Hawks Thanks to 12-4 and 6-4 Wins on Saturday

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Baseball team (16-22, 8-13 CC) continued their series with Chowan on Saturday. The Lions defeated the Hawks in both games of the doubleheader, completing a sweep of the series, 3-0.
 
Game One:
Emmanuel took care of business in the opener, winning 12-4.
 
The Lions scored six runs in the fourth inning. Emmanuel big bats were led by Guy Anderberg, Luke Patty, Yeshua Saint, and Brody Campbell, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
 
Jake Denham was the winning pitcher for Emmanuel. The pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
 
Shane Rademacher took the loss for Chowan. The pitcher allowed seven hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
 
Emmanuel socked one home run on the day. Cody Minnis had a long ball in the fifth inning.
 
Emmanuel saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits in the game. Saint, Anderberg, Campbell, Minnis, and Patty each racked up multiple hits for Emmanuel. Saint went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Emmanuel in hits.
 
Tyler West led Chowan with two hits in three at bats. Chowan was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Emmanuel Betancourt had the most chances in the field with eight.
 
Game Two:
Emmanuel grabbed the lead in the eighth inning for another victory over Chowan in the final game of the series, 6-4.
 
The game was tied at four with Emmanuel batting in the bottom of the eighth when Judd Roberts doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
 
Chowan fired up the offense in the first inning. Emmanuel Betancourt grounded out, scoring one run.
 
After Chowan scored one run in the top of the second, Emmanuel answered with one of their own. Chowan scored when Justin Wilnslow doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Clifford Brown got the win for Emmanuel. Brown surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out four. Ryan Smith and Kyle Heuchert entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
 
Carson Everette took the loss for Chowan. The hurler lasted one inning, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out one and walking one.
 
Trey Campbell started the game for Emmanuel. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one Jarrett Henderson started the game for Chowan. The bulldog allowed five hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
 
Emmanuel socked one home run on the day. Brody Campbell had a homer in the third inning.
 
Roberts went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Emmanuel in hits. Emmanuel didn't commit a single error in the field. Campbell had 13 chances in the field, the most on the team.
 
Joshua James led Chowan with two hits in three at bats.
 
Next up, Emmanuel Baseball will face the University of North Georgia on Tuesday, April 12 at 5:00pm.
