FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team hosted the Young Harris Mountain Lions tonight in Conference Carolinas action. The night began as a defensive battle, but the Mountain Lions opened things up in the 2
nd half, to take home a 3-1 victory. The loss drops the Lions record to 4-9 on the season, 4-5 in conference play.
The first half got off to a slow start offensively for both teams, with one goal scored by the Mountain Lions in the 15
th minute. Young Harris took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After the half, sophomore,
Elizabeth Barnhart got things started for Emmanuel, knotting the match up at 1-1 with a goal in the 59
th minute, assisted by freshman, Janya Gonzales and senior,
Emilia Dingwall.
The Mountain Lions answered back with a goal in the 78
th minute to take a 2-1 lead and closed out the match with a goal in the 85
th minute to take a 3-1 victory.
The Mountain Lions led the Lions in shots on goal, 8-5.
Up next for Emmanuel will be a conference match at Erskine College on Saturday at 2p.m.
