FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Lions Volleyball team hosted Lander University tonight in the Shaw Athletic Center. The Bearcats came into the contest on a 19-game win-streak, with a 23-2 record, but the Lions showed heart and came out on top, 3-2! With the win, the Lions improve their record to 14-10 on the season, 9-3 in conference play.
The first set was back and forth, with the Lions needing an extra point to take the set, 26-24. Lander would take the second and third set, (25-23, 25-17) but the Lions were resilient, taking the final two sets, (25-22, 15-10) to get the victory.
Overall, Emmanuel had 71 kills, 2 aces, 8 blocks and 81 digs.
Senior,
Emily Hanson led the way with 16 kills with senior,
Alaina Emminger and junior,
Jocelyn Martin with 15 a piece.
Freshman,
Cailin Pritchard had two blocks on the night with Hanson and senior,
Gabrielle McGlamery each contributing 1.5 a piece.
Sophomore,
Ellie Jackson had two aces on the evening and
Gabrielle McGlamery added to her assist total with 61 on the night!
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow evening at 7p.m. with a Conference Carolinas matchup at Erskine!
