ANDERSON, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team took on the Coker Cobras tonight in the Southeast Regional Challenge, hosted by Anderson University. The Lions got off to a hot start offensively behind 34-points by senior,
KJ Jones II and took the win, 104-79.
In the first half, the Lions shot an impressive 19-32 from the field (59.38%) and were 8-13 from beyond the arc (61.54%) and 5-7 at the charity stripe. At the half, the Lions led 51-29.
In the second half, the Lions continued their offensive run, shooting 60% from the field and 3-7 from beyond the arc. Emmanuel shot 95.24% (20-21) at the free throw line.
The Lions had 42 points in the paint, 21 off turnovers and an impressive 30 bench points.
Senior,
KJ Jones II led the Lions in scoring with 34 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Junior,
Chris Dees contributed 23 points, 6 rebounds and two steals. Junior,
Elisee Ehuie had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists on the night. Redshirt sophomore,
Nate Gordon led the team in rebounds with 8 in 19 minutes of play.
Next up, the Lions will head out west to take on Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD on Friday at 7:30PM.
