ANDERSON, SC – The Emmanuel Lady Lions Basketball team traveled to Anderson University today to take on Lander University in the AU Classic. The Lions fought hard all four quarters, but after trailing throughout the game the Bearcats would take the game, 64-56. The loss will bring the Lady Lions to an overall record of 3-1.
In the first quarter, the Lions got off to a slow start, shooting 4-15 from the field (26.67%). The Bearcats led after the first, 18-10.
In the second, the Lions continued the fight, shooting 3-9 from the field (33.33%). At the half, the Bearcats led 21-12.
In the third, the Lions added another 12 points and were 4-12 (33.33%) from the field. Lander added 13 of their own points and were 3-17 (17.65%) from the field.
During the fourth quarter, Emmanuel's offense was explosive, putting up 22 points and shooting 8-17 (47.06%) from the field and 6-6 (100.0%) for free throws. Even after shortening the lead, the Lady Lions came up short to fall 64-56 to the Bearcats.

Tyasia Freeman led the way for Emmanuel with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Junior, Maddie
Futch contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds. Senior,
Sydney Wyatt scored 8 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
