NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team kicked off Conference Carolinas Championship play today against Lees-McRae University. The match was an exciting one, with the Lions taking the first, third, and fourth sets, prevailing, 3-1.
With an intense first set (25-23), the Lions would jump ahead 1-0. Lees-McRae would fight back in the second set, taking that one (25-18) and tying the match at 1-1. The third set was another battle, with Emmanuel taking the set to extra points (26-24) and reclaiming the lead 2-1. The Lady Lions would claim the match in the fourth set with a 25-21 victory.
Overall, Emmanuel had 54 kills, 9 aces, 7 blocks, and 68 digs.
Senior,
Alaina Emminger led the way for Emmanuel with 17 kills. Senior,
Emily Hanson was close behind, with 16 of her own.
Hanson was also hot from the service line with 4 aces and senior
Gabrielle McGlamery contributed 52 assists to the win.
Hanson also led the team in blocks with 2.5.
The Lions will now take on North Greenville in the semifinals for the Conference Carolinas Championship on Saturday, November 18 at 7:30PM.
