Lions Beat Lees McRae 96-82

BANNER ELK, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team took on Lees McRae College today in Conference Carolinas action. The first half was evenly matched, with six ties and one lead change early, but the Lions would pull away in the second half to take the W, 96-82.  With the win, Emmanuel moves to 8-3 on the season, 2-1 in conference play.

In the first half, the Lions were 17-26 from the field (65.38%) and 6-10 from three. 6'6" junior,
Elisee Ehuie had a big first half with 10 points, going 2-3 from beyond the arc. With things knotted up at 17, the Lions would go on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 28-17 midway through the first. Although the Bobcats would bring the game within 3 with 2:52 to play in the half, the Lions would remain focused to push their lead back up to 8 at the half, 44-36.

Early in the second half, the Bobcats would tie things up at 44 on a three-pointer by LJ Rogers, but a few made field goals by the Lions would extend their lead. Lees McRae would bring the game back within 2 with 14:50 to play, but the Lions would go on a 7-0 run to extend their lead. Emmanuel wouldn't trail the rest of the way, getting up by as much as 15. They would go onto win by 14, 96-82.Â

Senior,
KJ Jones II led the way for the Lions with 24 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Redshirt sophomore,
Nate Gordon picked up a double-double, with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and junior
Elisee Ehuie added 19 points and 2 rebounds on the night.Â

Next up, the Lions will host King University in conference play on Saturday at 4p.m.Â
