Lions Take Down Tornado 89-64

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted King University today in conference play. The Lions offense was clicking early and often, behind KJ Jones (31 points) and Kendall Latney (22 points). Emmanuel would take down the Tornado by a score of 89-64.  With the win, Emmanuel moves to 9-3 overall, 3-1 in conference play. 
 
In the first half, the Lions shot 76.92% from the field (20-26) and were 4-7 from beyond the arc. The Tornado took an early lead on a three by Jordan Akal, but the Lions would quickly regain the lead and wouldn't trail the rest of the way. Junior, Kendall Latney led the way scoring 18 of his 22 points in the first half. The Lions would lead by as much as 22 in the half and would lead by 19 at half, 46-27.
 
In the second half, the Lions extended their lead, leading by as much as 27 with 7:40 to play. Emmanuel shot 15-23 from the field (65.2%) and were 13-14 from the foul line. KJ Jones started the half with a slam dunk and scored 18 of his 31 points in the half. The Lions defeated the Tornado by 25, 89-64.
 
KJ Jones II led the way with 31 points on night and now averages 25.3 points per game, which leads the conference. He also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on the night. Kendall Latney contributed 22 points of his own, and red-shirt sophomore, Nate Gordon led the team with 10 rebounds.
