Lions Make Statement in Win over #5 Georgia College 79-64

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team were back in action tonight against the Georgia College Bobcats. Coming into the contest, the Bobcats were ranked #5 in the Southeast Region with a 6-0 record. But the Emmanuel Lions offense was clicking early and stayed the course behind a 32-point night by senior, KJ Jones II. The Lions handed the Bobcats their first loss of the season, 79-64. With the win, the Lions improve to 6-3 overall on the season. 
 
In the first half, Emmanuel was 15-35 from the field (43%) and 5-18 from beyond the arc. The Lions led by as much as 22 with 5:40 to play in the half. Jones led the way for the Lions with 14 points, with junior, Kendall Latney adding 10 points, going 2-4 from three. Redshirt ____ Nate Gordon led the Lions with 7 rebounds in the half. At the break, the Lions led the Bobcats by 16, 38-22.
 
In the second half the Lions were 13-24 from the field (54%) and 2-4 from beyond the arc. They would lead by as much as 23 points with 5:02 remaining in the contest. The Bobcats would bring the game within 14, but that would be the closest it would come. The Lions made a statement beating the undefeated Georgia College Bobcats, 79-64.
 
The Lions were led by KJ Jones II who ended the night with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Latney had 21 points and 7 boards on the night, and junior, Chris Dees contributed 14 points, 5 boards and 2 assists. 
 
Next up, the Lions will host a conference match-up against North Greenville University on Saturday at 4p.m. in the Shaw Athletic Center.
