FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted North Greenville University tonight in Conference Carolinas play. The Lions got off to a fast start offensively, leading by as much as 17 in the first half. They would go on to win this one comfortably, with four Lions in double figures scoring, 91-64. With the win, the Lions improve to 7-3 on the season, 1-1 in conference play.
In the first half, the Lions shot 50% from the field (16-32) and 4-11 from beyond the arc. Red-shirt Sophomore, Spudd Webb scored 8 of his 14 points in the first, going 2-2 from three. The Lions led by as much as 17 points with 6:50 to play in the first.
At the half, the Lions led the Crusaders by five, 41-36.
In the second half, the Lions offense continued to fire on all cylinders. Early in the half, the Crusaders would bring the game within 2 points, but key three-pointers from junior,
Chris Dees would stretch the lead for the Lions. Emmanuel was 18-29 from the field in the half (62%) and 4-7 from three (57%), outscoring NGU 50-28 in the half.
The Lions would go on to win this one, 91-64.
Four Lions were in double figures scoring, with senior,
KJ Jones II leading the way with 32 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals on the night. Junior,
Chris Dees contributed 14 points and 7 boards on the night, and
Kendall Latney added 14 points of his own, along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Spudd Webb added came away with 14 points on the night, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Red-shirt sophomore,
Nate Gordon led the team with 11 rebounds and added 8 points on the night.
