Baseball Grabs late lead to beat Anderson University

Emmanuel College Lions Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Anderson University.

Emmanuel College Lions snagged a late lead and defeated Anderson University 5-4 on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with Emmanuel College Lions batting in the bottom of the sixth when B. Campbell's sac fly scored one run for Emmanuel College Lions.

Anderson University opened up scoring in the first inning.  J Montgomery singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Emmanuel College Lions took the lead for good with four runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth T. Collins singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run and Z. Bergstrom singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

R. Smith was credited with the victory for Emmanuel College Lions. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.  B. Barkley, M. Dodd, and D. Drakeford all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

J Duffie took the loss for Anderson University. The pitcher surrendered two runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning. C Davis started the game for Anderson University. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking zero C. Minnis went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Emmanuel College Lions in hits. Anderson University totaled 12 hits.  J Fox, J Hanvey, and Montgomery each collected multiple hits for Anderson University.  Fox led Anderson University with three hits in five at bats.

The Lions will host King University this upcoming weekend for a three game series against the Tornado beginning Friday, February 24 at 3:00pm.
