GASTONIA, NC - The men's and women's bowling teams completed the 2023 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Bowling Championship on Sunday. The men's team finished runner-up, while the women finished third.
Men:
The #2 seed men's team defeated Tusculum 4-2 in Round 1 on Friday in the double-elimination bracket. On Saturday, the Lions fell to Belmont Abbey 0-4, dropping Emmanuel into the losers bracket. However, with a 4.5-1.5 win over Kentucky Wesleyan, the Lions still advanced to the championship match on Sunday. The Lions defeated Belmont Abbey 2-1 on Sunday, but the Crusaders had yet to lose so the Lions would have to defeat them twice to earn the title. In the second match, the Crusaders won 4-0 to claim the title.
Two Lions were named to the All-Tournament team, Patrick Phillips and Logan Mathis.Â

Women:
The #3 seed women's team defeated Walsh 4-0 in round 1 on Friday. In round 2 on Saturday, the Lions fell to LMU, 4-3. The Lions defeated Tusculum 4-3 in round 3 on Saturday before defeating Kentucky Wesleyan 4-2 in round 4 on the same day. This advanced Emmanuel to Sunday's round 5. However, the Lions fell to Belmont Abbey 4-2 in the semifinal round.Â
Gillian Moore was named to the All-Tournament team for Emmanuel.
