DUNCAN, SC -Â The Emmanuel softball team continued their conference play against Converse College, after splitting with Mount Olive on March 24, 2023. The Lions swept in the doubleheader against the Valkyries, winning the first game 7-1 and the second game 7-0. This moves Emmanuel's overall record to 18-14 and 7-3 in conference play.

A run here and a run there helped propel Emmanuel College to a big win over Converse University on Tuesday, 7-1.

In the first inning, Emmanuel College  got their offense started. Jaryn Gibson  doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Madison Edwards  was the winning pitcher for the Lions. The pitcher surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out five.

Serrah Ballard took the loss for Converse University. The bulldog lasted seven innings, allowing 14 hits and seven runs while walking one.

Emmanuel College collected 14 hits on the day. Ellee Varner, Jaryn Gibson, Gabby Buffington  and Abi Curry  all managed multiple hits for the Lions. Varner  went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Emmanuel College in hits.  Emmanuel College  didn't commit a single error in the field. Lexi Jordan had the most chances in the field with six.

Kaitlyn Pickens had all the right stuff on in game 2 for Emmanuel College, allowing zero runs and besting Converse University by a score of 7-0

Emmanuel College secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by a single by Mackensie Hogan and a home run by Kyna Cheney.

A single by Chesney Miles in the third inning was a positive for Converse University.

Pickens pitched the Lions to victory. The pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out six.

Rylee Summers took the loss for Converse University. The bulldog surrendered seven runs on 12 hits over seven innings.

Emmanuel College tallied one home run on the day. Cheney went yard in the fifth inning.

The Lions tallied 12 hits. Lexi Jordan and Gabby Buffington both had multiple hits for Emmanuel College.  Jordan went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Lions in hits.
