Franklin Springs, GA - With Madison On The Mound, Emmanuel College Lions Varsity Shuts Out King University in Game 1!
GAME 1
MADISON EDWARDS threw a shutout to lead the Emmanuel College Lions past King University 7-0 on Friday.
Emmanuel College secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the first inning.
Alyssa Adams, JARYN GIBSON, KYNA CHENEY,
Adrianna Meeks, and LEXI JORDAN each had RBIs in the frame.
Emmanuel got things started in the first inning when Adams singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
A single by Jessica Campbell in the first inning was a positive for King University.
EDWARDS earned the win for Emmanuel. EDWARDS surrendered zero runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.
Savana Luper took the loss for King University. The southpaw allowed five hits and seven runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
The Lions Varsity racked up 11 hits in the game. Adams, MACKENSIE HOGAN, and JORDAN each racked up multiple hits for Emmanuel. JORDAN, HOGAN, and Adams each collected two hits to lead Emmanuel.
Campbell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead King University in hits.
GAME 2
The Emmanuel College Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-2 loss to King University on Friday. King University scored on a single by Lauren Lawson and a single by Logan Leonard in the first inning.
Emmanuel lost despite out-hitting King University 12 to seven.
King University got on the board in the first inning. King University scored one run when Lawson singled.
Nikole Counts was credited with the victory for King University. The righty surrendered two runs on 12 hits over six and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Marleigh Duncan threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
KAITLYN PICKENS took the loss for the Lions Varsity. The righty surrendered three runs on five hits over four and a third innings, striking out three.
Emmanuel racked up 12 hits on the day.
Alyssa Adams and KYNA CHENEY each racked up multiple hits for Emmanuel. CHENEY and Adams each collected two hits to lead Emmanuel College.
Jessica Campbell led King University with two hits in three at bats. King University was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Counts had the most chances in the field with five.
