Emmanuel lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat to Augusta University on Tuesday. The game was tied at one with Augusta University batting in the top of the seventh when Lauren Barrett singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Augusta University pitchers struck out three, while the Emmanuel College Lions sat down seven.

Emmanuel College Lions Varsity Claims Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Augusta University in Game 2:

Emmanuel College Lions snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over Augusta University on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with Emmanuel Lions batting in the bottom of the fifth when JARYN GIBSON homered on a 1-2 count, scoring four runs.
Emmanuel College earned the victory despite allowing Augusta University to score three runs in the first inning. Bobbi Poff, Lauren Barrett, and Lauren Evens all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Augusta University got things moving in the first inning. Poff was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
In the bottom of the third inning, The Lions Varsity tied things up at three. Alyssa Adams hit a solo homer.
MADISON EDWARDS was the winning pitcher for Emmanuel. The righty allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
Alissa Bolinger took the loss for Augusta University. The bulldog went four and a third innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits, striking out three and walking zero.
Emmanuel tallied two home runs on the day. Adams had a four bagger in the third inning. GIBSON went yard in the fifth inning.
The home team totaled 12 hits. ELLEE VARNER, LEXI JORDAN, and Adams each racked up multiple hits for Emmanuel College. JORDAN and VARNER each collected three hits to lead Emmanuel. The Lions Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Eliana Cooper made the most plays with seven.
Augusta University tallied four hits. Grace Bridges and Lauren Slade all had multiple hits for the Jaguars.
