FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA- The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted the Mountain Lions of Young Harris tonight in Conference Carolinas action. The game saw a few early lead changes, but the Lions would take control midway through the first, and would win this one by 11, 79-68. With the win, the Lions improve to 13-4 on the season, 5-1 in conference play.
In the first half of play, the two teams traded baskets early, but the Lions took a 12-9 lead on a three by junior,
Elisee Ehuie with 11:36 to play and would lead the rest of the way. Emmanuel was 14-31 from the field in the first, connecting on 4-11 three-pointers. Junior,
Kendall Latney led the Lions with 10 points in the first half. Emmanuel would lead 34-23 at the break.
In the second half, the Mountain Lions would get within five points early, but the Lions would go on a run of their own, extending their lead to 10. Emmanuel would shoot 63.6% (14-22) from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc. The Lions were 14-15 from the foul line in the second half. Young Harris would get within six a few times in the half, but the Lions would pull away to win by 11, 79-68.
Five Lions ended the night in double figures scoring, with KJ Jones leading the way with 23 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds and a steal.
Kendall Latney finished the night with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, with junior,
Elisee Ehuie adding 14 points, red-shirt sophomore,
Tavarus Webb contributing 11, and
Chris Dees adding 10.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Barton College on Saturday, where they'll face the Bulldogs in Conference action at 4PM.
