WILSON, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Wilson, NC to take on the Barton College Bulldogs in Conference Carolinas action. The Lions got off to a quick start offensively, but Barton made things interesting in the second half. The Lions held on for a 78-74 win. With the win, the Lions improve to 14-4 overall, 6-1 in conference play.
In the first half of play, the Lions were 13-27 (48.15%) from the field and 4-9 from beyond the arc. They connected on 16-18 free throws. Red-shirt Sophomore, Spudd Webb led the way with 13 points in the half, with senior,
KJ Jones II close behind with 11. At the half, the Lions led by 13, 46-33.
In the second half, the Bulldogs defense gave the Lions trouble, causing Emmanuel to connect on just 7-26 shots. The Lions were 18-22 from the charity stripe. The Bulldogs would get within two points with 10 seconds to play in the game, but two key free throws by KJ Jones sealed the victory for the Lions, 74-70.
Three Lions scored in double figures on the night.
KJ Jones II led the way with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block.
Tavarus Webb ended the night with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists, while junior,
Chris Dees added 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.
Next up, the Lions will host Erskine College on Tuesday night at 7PM in the Shaw Athletic Center.
