Sydney Wyatt who reached a career milestone reaching 1,000 career points in the 59-42 win! With the win, the Lions improve to 9-5 overall, 5-1 in Conference action.
In the first quarter, the Lions got off to a slow start shooting 5-13 from the field (38%) and 2-5 (40%) from beyond the arc. Juniors,
Maddie Futch and
Abby Crawford combined for 10 of the Lions 12 points in the quarter. The Lions led Young Harris 12-7 after one.
In the second quarter, the Lions played strong defensively, holding the Mountain Lions to 15% shooting (2-13 from the field). Emmanuel shot 6-13 from the field, 3-3 from the foul line. The Lions extended their lead to 14 in the second quarter, and led by 12 at the half, 27-15.
In the third quarter, senior,
Sydney Wyatt reached a career milestone, becoming the newest member of the 1,000-career point club. The Lions outscored the Mountain Lions 21-12 in the quarter, shooting 6-16 from the field (38%) and 9-10 from the foul line (90%). After three, the Lions led 48-27.
In the fourth quarter, the Lions shot 33% from the field (5-15) and were outscored 15-11. The Mountain Lions would go on a 7-0 run late, but Emmanuel would win by 17, 59-42.
Four Lions ended the night in double figures.
Sydney Wyatt led all scorers with a double-double, 17 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists.
Maddie Futch also had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Senior,
Tyasia Freeman added 14 points on the night, with
Abby Crawford contributing 11 to the total.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Barton College on Saturday, where they'll face the Bulldogs in Conference action at 2PM.
