WILSON, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team traveled to Wilson, NC to take on the Barton College Bulldogs in Conference Carolinas action. The Lions got off to a quick start offensively and led the entire game, with four Lions scoring in double figures. Lions win 81-60, improving to 10-5 overall, 6-1 in conference action.
In the first quarter of play, the Lions were 8-17 from the field (47%) and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Emmanuel also connected on 6-7 free throws. Junior,
Abby Crawford made 2 of Emmanuel's threes. After one, the Lions led 25-13.
In the second, the Lions offense was slowed down some by the Bulldogs. Emmanuel shot 27.78% from the field and were 1-4 from three. The Lions were 100% in foul shots in the quarter (4-4), extending their lead to 21 with 3:40 to play in the half. At the half, the Lions led 40-26.
In the third quarter, the Lions offense shot over 50% from the field and couldn't miss from the foul line, going 6-6. Senior,
Tyasia Freeman scored 9 of her 19 points in the quarter. After three, Emmanuel led Barton by 20, 62-42.
In the final quarter of play, the Lions were 5-13 from the field (31%), and 9-10 from the foul line. The Bulldogs brought the game within 8 with 6:02 to play, but the Lions would go on a 6-0 run to bring their lead back up to double-digits. Senior,
Sydney Wyatt had 11 points in the quarter, and the Lions defeated the Bulldogs by 21, 81-60.
Two Lions ended the night with double-doubles, with
Sydney Wyatt leading the way with 27 points and 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Tyasia Freeman ended the night with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Junior,
Maddie Futch contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds, while
Abby Crawford added 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and a steal.
