Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lions Defeat Fleet 59-56

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team hosted the Erskine College Flying Fleet in Conference Carolinas play tonight. This was an exciting matchup, with three ties and six lead changes. The deciding factor in this game came at the foul line, with the Lions making 12-14 in the fourth quarter to earn a 59-56 win. With the victory, Emmanuel improves to 11-5 overall on the season and 7-1 in Conference action. 
 
Emmanuel got off to a slow start, trailing Erskine for much of the first quarter. The Lions were 6-12 from the field (50%), After trailing by 4, a key three pointer by senior, Sydney Wyatt gave Emmanuel a 12-11 lead to close out the quarter. After one, Emmanuel led 14-11. 
 
In the second quarter, the Lions led by as much as 9, shooting 40% from the field and 3-3 from the charity stripe. The Lions outscored Erskine 16-12 in the quarter and led by seven, 30-23 at the half. 
 
The third quarter started out with a 9-0 run by Erskine, giving the Flying Fleet a 32-30 lead. Erskine would go up by as much as 4 in the quarter, holding Emmanuel to 1-16 from the field. The Lions would however go 9-12 (75%) from the foul line. After three, Erskine led 42-41. 
 
The fourth quarter saw three lead changes and two ties, as the two teams traded buckets. The Flying Fleet would lead by as much as four early in the fourth, but the Lions would close out the game going 12-14 from the foul line, which would be the deciding factor. The Lions held off the Flying Fleet, 59-56 to earn their seventh Conference win of the season! 
 
Sydney Wyatt led the way for Emmanuel with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Maddie Futch ended the night with a double-double, adding 11 points, 4 assists, and a career-high seventeen rebounds to the total. Senior, Tyasia Freeman contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
