HONOLULU, HI – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team took to the court for the first time in 2024 in the Aloha State, against the #4 nationally ranked Rainbow Warriors of the University of Hawai'i. The Lions battled, holding an advantage in sets 2 and 3, but the Warriors served their way to a 3-0 victory (25-10, 25-19, 25-16). With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-1 on the season.
In the first set, the Warriors started strong with 4 aces and 3 blacks, while hitting .316. UH would take an early lead, winning the first set, 25-10.
In the second set, the Warriors committed 8 attack errors and five service errors. The Lions took advantage, holding a 17-15 lead, but UH would close out the set with six straight points to take set two, 25-19.
The third set saw the Lions take an early 5-2 lead, but the Warriors would go on a 10-3 run to take a 13-8 advantage. In the third set, UH had five aces that helped push their lead to double digits. Hawai'i would take set three, 25-16.
The Lions finished the night with 16 kills, 15 assists, 6.5 blocks and an ace.
Sophomore,
Aidan Feeney led the way for Emmanuel with 7 kills and 4 blocks on the night.
The two teams will meet again on Friday at 7:00PM (Hawai'i time)
