CHARLESTON, WV – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team traveled to Charleston, West Virginia to take on the University of Charleston Golden Eagles tonight in non-conference play. Emmanuel battled hard, but the Golden Eagles outlasted the Lions in three sets, 25 -16, 25-17, 25-19). With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-3 in the season.
The two teams traded points early in the first set, with multiple ties and lead changes. But the Golden Eagles would go on a 8-1 run to take a 18-12 lead and they were able to finish the set strong winning, 25-16. The Golden Eagles had 15 kills and 3 service aces in the set.
The second set started similarly, with the teams battling early on. A kill by freshman, Arturo Dias-Dube put the Lions within one point, 12-11 but Charleston would pull away and take the set, 25-17.
Although down two sets, the Lions continued to fight. The third set was competitive with multiple ties and lead changes. In the set, Emmanuel had 9 kills but a few costly errors. The Golden Eagles took the set, 25-19.
Overall, the Lions had 25 kills. 25 assists, 3 aces, and 3 blocks. Diaz Duve and sophomore,
Aidan Feeney led the way for the Lions with 8 kills apiece. Sophomore,
Noah Langelier, Diaz-Dube, and freshman,
Andrew Michael had an ace apiece. Langelier led the team in assists with 24, with freshman,
Greg Bodus contributing 1.5 blocks. Senior,
Nicklas Eichenberger had 9 digs on the night.
