Lions Defeat Warriors 82-63

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors tonight in Conference Carolinas play. The teams traded buckets early but Emmanuel took control of the game midway through the first and led the rest of the way. Emmanuel wins 82-63 to extend their win streak to eight games. With the win, the Lions improve to 16-4 overall, 8-1 in conference action. Emmanuel's KJ Jones II also made history tonight, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Emmanuel history with 2,756 career points breaking a record set by Emmanuel Athletics Hall of Famer, Larry James, who had held the record since 1999.
In the first half of play, the Lions got off to a quick start with red-shirt sophomore Tavarus Webb starting out strong offensively. The Lions shot 56% from the field in the half and connected on 3-10 threes.  At the half, the Lions led by 12, 46-34.
In the second half, the Lions continued to shoot well, going 14-28 from the field, making 3-12 from beyond the arc. Jones broke the all-time scoring record on a layup in the paint with 16:09 to play in the game. The Warriors would get within 9, but the Lions would remain focused and extend their lead to as much as 21. Emmanuel wins this one by 19, 82-63. 
Three Lions ended the night in double figures, with two earning double doubles. KJ Jones II led the way with 31 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. Tavarus Webb ended the night with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal for his second consecutive double-double. Junior, Kendall Latney ended the night with 14 points , 6 rebounds , and 5 assists.
