Cullowhee, N.C. – The Emmanuel Women's Tennis team traveled to Cullowhee, NC today to take on the Catamounts of Western Carolina University. The Lions battled against the NCAA Division I. team, but ultimately fell 6-1. The Lions now sit at 3-3 on the season. 
 
In doubles action, Emmanuel's #1 Doubles team of seniors, Zyanya Rogel and Alejandra Guerrero fell 6-2 to Western Carolina's Angela Perez and Isabella Sambola. 
 
At the #2 spot, junior Darja Chistov and sophomore, Sabina Roua fell in a tight match to Western Carolina's Chloe Schwarz and Madison Schwarz. 
 
At #3 doubles, sophomores, Anna Goncalves and Victoria Rodriguez fell 6-0 to Western Carolina's Andrea Redondo and Jade Groen. 
 
With three doubles wins, the Catamounts took a 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches. 
 
Singles Matches:
 
#1 Singles – Emmanuel senior, Alejandra Guerrero fell in straight sets to Catamounts Isabella Sambola, 6-1, 6-2. 
 
#2 Singles – Emmanuel freshman, Tawana Senah fell to WCU's Jade Groen in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. 
 
#3 Singles – Emmanuel junior, Shatavisa Ghosh was competitive against WCU's Angela Perez but ultimately fell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. 
 
#4 Singles – Junior, Darja Chistov battled against Western Carolina's Madison Schwarz, ultimately falling in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. 
 
#5 – Emmanuel sophomore, Sabina Roua earned the win over Western Carolina's Andrea Redondo in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8. 
 
#6 – Emmanuel sophomore, Anna Goncalves put up a fight against Western Carolina's Dasha Osadova, but ultimately fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. 
 
Up next, the Lions will travel to Macon, GA to face Mercer University on Sunday at 10AM!
