DUE WEST, SC - The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team looked to extend their winning streak against Erskine this afternoon. Each set was competitive, but the Lions prevailed winning in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16.
In set one, the Lions got off to a quick start, taking a 10-2 lead. Emmanuel had 5 service aces in the set, but the Flying Fleet would respond to get within six points of the lead, 16-10. A 5-0 run late would get the Flying Fleet within four points of the lead, 21-18 but the Lions would close things out to take the set, 25-21.Â
In set two, the two teams traded points. The Lions held onto the lead early, but the Fleet would tie things at 11. A kill by
Jocelyn Martin would give the Lions a 12-11 lead and the Lions would hold onto the lead the rest of the way. The Lions had 20 kills in the set, with
Ellie Jackson grabbing five of her 17 kills in the set. The Lions would win set two, 25-17.Â
In set three, Erskine would take an early 6-2 lead. The Lions would answer to tie things at 8 on a kill by Chantiya Johson. A 7-0 run would give the Lions a 14-8 lead. The Lions had two aces in the set and would take it, 25-16 to bring home a 3-0 win.Â
Overall, the Lions had 47 kills, 46 assists, 7 aces, 4 blocks and 54 digs.Â
Ellie Jackson led the way with another double-double of 17 kills, 12 digs.
Isabel Miller had 18 assists on the afternoon, with
Sami Gambill adding 12.
Cailin Pritchard led the way with 3 aces at the service line. Four Lions had a block on the afternoon, while
Layla Bland led the team with 13 digs.Â
Up next, the Lions will travel to Central, SC to face the Southern Wesleyan Warriors on Tuesday at 7PM.Â
