ROME, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team traveled to Rome, GA tonight to take on the Shorter University Hawks under the lights. The game started off as a defensive battle, with neither team scoring in the first half. Emmanuel's offense exploded in the second half, as the Lions scored three times to earn a 3-0 win. With the win, the Lions improve to 3-8-1 overall, 3-3-1 in conference play.
In the first half of play, the Lions threatened to score with seven shots on goal, but nothing broke through. The two teams headed into halftime tied, 0-0.
After the break, the Lions got on the board at 62:51 with a goal by
Brianna Nguyen to give Emmanuel a 1-0 lead.
Janya Gonzalez added to the Lions lead with a goal at 78:55 to make it 2-0, Lions. With less than two minutes to play,
Mia Mostek tacked on another goal for the Lions to give Emmanuel a 3-0 win.
The Lions outshot the Hawks 37-1 in the contest, with 21 shots on goal.
