Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

LIons Down UNC Pembroke 3-0!

Pembroke, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team traveled to Pembroke, NC today to take on UNC Pembroke in Conference Carolinas action. The match was a competitive one, with both team making key plays but the Lions were able to come away with a win in three sets, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19. With the win, the Lions improve to 14-9 on the season, 11-1 in conference play.
 
In the first set, the Braves got off to a strong start, taking a 6-3 lead. The Lions roared back to tie things at 6-6 on a kill by Alaina Emminger. The Braves would keep things close, tying the game again at 10 and 14 before taking the lead, 15-14. A kill by Jocelyn Martin would tie things back up at 17 and a kill by Emminger to make it 22-21 would give the Lions the lead for good. Emmanuel would collect 19 kills in the set to win it, 25-22. 
 
A 6-0 run helped the Lions start the second set off strong, 10-3. The Braves would begin to mount a comeback getting within four points of a tie, but kills by Emily Hanson, Cailin Pritchard, and Ellie Jackson would make it 19-12, Lions. The Lions would close out the set strong, 25-17.
 
In the third set, the Lions got out to an 8-5 lead quickly, but the Braves responded well to tie things at 8. A 5-0 run by the Lions, including kills by Emminger and two service aces by Amore Marshall would extend Emmanuel's lead to 13-8. The Braves would make it 14-12, but the Lions would respond with another 5-0 run to make it 21-14. The teams traded points the rest of the way with the Lions taking the set, 25-19 and the match, 3-0.
 
Overall, the Lions had 49 kills, led by Emminger with 17. Amore Marshall had 4 of Emmanuel's 8 aces, and Cailin Pritchard led the team with 3 blocks, while Emily Hanson added 2 and Emminger contributed 1. Sami Gambill had 21 of the Lion's 47 assists and Asia Queen continued to shine with 16 digs, while Ellie Jackson had ANOTHER double-double day with 14 kills, 10 digs, and 2 aces.
 
Next up, the Lions will host Lees McRae at 7PM on Monday, October 28!
