Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team hosted Lees McRae tonight in Conference Carolinas action. The Lions got off to a quick start, taking set one 25-16. The Bobcats took set two, 25-22, before the Lions settled in to take the final two sets, 25-17. 25-10. With the win, the Lions improve to 15-9 overall, 12-1 in conference action.
The Lions got out to a quick 4-1 lead in the first set. The Bobcats answered back to tie the set at 6-6 but the Lions would use a 3-0 run made up of two kills by
Ellie Jackson to take the lead again, 10-6. Mid way through the set, the Lions extended their lead to 19-11.
Ellie Jackson was strong from the service line, with three aces in the first set alone. The Lions would close out the set strong to take it, 25-16.
The Bobcats would respond well in the second set, taking an early 5-1 lead. Lees McRae would go on several scoring runs through the set to keep the Lions at bay. Late in the set, Emmanuel would get within two points of the lead on several occasions, but the Bobcats would hold off the home team to take the set, 25-22.
The Lions refocused in the third set, taking a 4-1 lead. The Bobcats would begin to respond but the Lions would use a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 12-6. The Bobcats would score the next 6 of 8 points to get within two points of the lead midway through the set, but the Lions would answer back with a 4-0 run including kills by
Emily Hanson and
Jocelyn Martin to make it 21-15. The Lions finished the set strong, winning 25-17.
The fourth set was all Emmanuel, with the Lions getting out to a 6-0 lead. The Lions would extend their lead to 14-6 midway through the set with kills by Hanson and Martin. The Lions would lead by as much as 15 points in the set, with a kill by
Emily Hanson cementing the set victory, 25-10 giving the Lions a 3-1 win over the Bobcats.
Overall, the Lions had 44 kills, 15 aces, 8 blocks, 39 assists, and 58 digs.
Jocelyn Martin led the way with 10 kills for the home team, with
Cailin Pritchard adding 9.
Ellie Jackson led the team with 4 aces, with
Morgan Brice and
Sami Gambill adding 3 a piece.
Alaina Emminger led the team with 5 blocks on the night, with
Cailin Pritchard and
Brianna Bigelow adding 4 a piece.
Ellie Jackson led the team with 16 digs, while
Isabel Miller added 18 assists.
