Spartanburg, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team traveled to Spartanburg, SC to take on Converse University in conference play. The Valkyries struck first and held on to take the win, 2-1. With the loss, the Lions fall to 4-10-2 on the season, 4-5-2 in conference action.
The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team finding the net early. The Valkyries struck first, scoring in the 21
st minute to take a 1-0 lead. Converse would outshoot the Lions 4-3 in the first half, with each team having a shot on goal. At the half, the Valkyries led 1-0.
Following the break, Converse got back on the board with a goal at 63:26 to make it 2-0. With less than 6 minutes left on the clock, Emmanuel's
Ires Tania cut the Valkyries lead in half, scoring to make it 2-1. In the second half, both teams took five shots, with the Valkyries taking two shots on goal compared to one for the Lions.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Due West, SC to take on Erskine in their regular season finale on Saturday at 1PM.
