Murfreesboro, NC - The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team traveled to Murfreesboro, NC to face the Chowan Hawks in Conference Carolinas action. The game was competitive from the start, but the #1 seeded Hawks pulled away in the final minutes of play to win it, 3-1.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-2-2 on the season, 1-2-1 in conference.
The first half of play was a defensive battle, with neither team finding the net for the first several minutes of play. Emmanuel's
Luciano Rundles broke things open for the Lions, scoring at 12:43, assisted by
Tomas Pollacchi to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Hawks responded at 21:06 to tie things up at 1-1 heading into half.
The score stayed that way until the 77
th minute of play when Chowan scored to take a 2-1 lead. The Hawks tacked on their third goal of the afternoon at 84:54 to make it 3-1, which would be the final score.
The Hawks out-shot the Lions 20-13, with 9 of their shots being on goal. Emmanuel goalkeeper,
Natxo Faus ended the night with 6 saves.
Next up, the Lions will host Erskine College at Stephens Athletic Field on Tuesday at 7PM.
