TIGERVILLE, SC – The Emmanuel Lions Volleyball team traveled to Tigerville, SC tonight to take on the North Greenville University Trailblazers in conference play. The Lions started off strong, taking the first set 25-11. Emmanuel continued to hold the momentum, taking set two, 25-15 and closed out the game with a 25-18 win to take the match 3-0. With the win, the Lions improved to 10-6 overall, 7-0 in conference play.
Set one started out competitive, with the teams trading points and the lead. The Lions tied things up at 7-7 on a service ace by
Sami Gambill and took the lead on an attack error by the Trailblazers. The Lions continued a 10-3 run to make it 18-11 and would score the final 8 points to win the set convincingly, 25-11.
In set two, the Lions took an early 11-5 lead, Emmanuel would continue to roll, extending their lead to 18-9. The set was highlighted by three service aces by freshman,
Sami Gambill. The Trailblazers would begin to mount a comeback, but the Lions would force two attack errors to close out the set, 25-15.
In third set, the Lions took an early lead, but the Trailblazers would respond to get within a point of the lead. The Lions would answer back with a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 19-13. North Greenville would get within four points of the lead, 22-18 but the Lions would score the final three points to take the set, 25-18 and the game 3-0.
Overall, the Lions had 34 kills. 33 assists, 6 aces, 46 digs, and 9 blocks.
Ellie Jackson led the way with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Isabel Miller had 20 assists on the night, while
Sami Gambill added 3 aces. Sophomore,
Cailin Pritchard had a block party with seven total blocks on the night.
