DUE WEST, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team traveled to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet in conference play. After a scoreless first half, the Lions took control of the game in the 2nd half, scoring two goals to earn a 2-0 win. With the win, the Lions improve to 8-4-2, 7-4-2 in conference.
The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team getting on the board. The Lions outshot the Flying Fleet 9-5 in the half with 4 shots on goal. At the half, the score was knotted at 0-0.
After the break, the Lions wasted no time taking the lead on a beauty of a goal by
Tomas Pollacchi at 51:47, assisted by
Nathan Walker to make it 1-0, Lions. Later in the half,
Matt Fitzer scored his fifth goal of the season at the 76:38 mark, assisted by
Tomas Pollacchi to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage, which would be the final score. The Lions outshot the Fleet, 8-2 with 3 shots on goal.
Next, the Lions will wait to see who they will play and where they will play in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament which begins on Thursday, November 7.
